Increase your personal effectiveness through interpersonal awareness and "flex to the person you are working with" skills.

The Core Work Books

Every working professional needs to be able to interact effectively with others in one-on-one and in team situations.

To be able to do this, you need to know how you behave in four critical interpersonal skill areas.

Each of these work books provides you with insight into your behavior patterns in that interpersonal skill area. It also allows you to get insight into those of your co-workers. Complete and self-contained, each work book provides a complete professional development experience.

Click on any of the covers to get more information on that work book.

How do you use the core Competency Styles® work books?

Each work book starts with a set of work place scenarios. You describe how you behave by selecting one of two possible choices in each scenario. When you have completed the scenarios, you compile your results.

You then use your results to get insight into your own behavior patterns in the five competency areas that make up the work book. You see how others behave in similar circumstances. Once you have this self-awareness, you develop your on-the-job skills by completing a a series of structured exercises.

Each work book is complete in itself. You can use it by yourself. You and a workmate each can order a copy, and work through the results together. When you do this, you will increase the richness of both of your development experiences. Or you could be asked to complete it when you taking a course at a college or university, or attending a professional development program.

How do you get the work books? Go to the WCI Press Competency Styles® Work Book Distributors page.

If you are an HR professional, an executive coach, a professional development trainer, a college or university professor, a group process facilitator, or an individual or family counselor, you can use one or more of the work books in your courses or practice. Go to using WCI Competency Styles materials in your programs to find out more.
